Corporate Well-Being Report: Leaders Prepare for a Health Revolution

Strategies, Findings, and Opportunities to Improve Workplace Health in Mexico

Workplace well-being is no longer optional; it is now a strategic priority. With rising stress levels, burnout, and increasing difficulties in disconnecting from work, employers are being held accountable for human capital indicators that directly impact productivity—particularly health and well-being. Recognizing this urgent need, TOTALPASS, a corporate wellness platform with over 4,000 gyms and mental health programs, along with Ivonne Vargas, LATAM representative for The Workforce Institute, presented the “Corporate Well-Being Report” on February 27, 2025, in Guadalajara. This report provides a detailed analysis of workplace well-being in Mexico and highlights key areas for improvement within organizations.

A Diagnosis of Workplace Well-Being in Mexican Companies

To gather comprehensive data, 125 organizations across Mexico were surveyed, ranging from 50 to over 26,000 employees. The participating companies span diverse industries, including telecommunications, technology, cybersecurity, banking, real estate, healthcare, automotive, retail, manufacturing, and more.

A 25-question survey was conducted to evaluate key aspects such as:

  • Understanding and promotion of well-being within organizations.
  • Recognition of mental health importance.
  • Leadership engagement in promoting health and well-being.
  • Use of technology to support employee wellness.

The findings reveal that companies that actively promote comprehensive wellness programs see higher motivation and workplace satisfaction, leading to improved productivity. However, the report also issues a cautionary note: merely implementing generic wellness initiatives without measuring their impact is not enough. Customization of wellness programs must become a top priority for HR, regardless of company size.

Workplace Well-Being: More Than a Trend, a Necessity

One of the biggest challenges is effectively communicating and promoting healthy workplace habits. Six out of ten employees state that their company does not effectively communicate its wellness programs. This presents a major opportunity for organizations, as employees can only benefit from these programs if they are aware of them and actively involved in their selection.

Additionally, 35% of respondents reported that their organization lacks initiatives to encourage active breaks or workplace ergonomics. This not only affects employees’ physical health but also their emotional well-being and productivity.

The Five Most Valued Workplace Wellness Initiatives in Mexico

The report identifies the workplace well-being strategies that employees in Mexico value the most:

  1. Dedicated workplace spaces and moments for digital disconnection.
  2. Gym discounts and access to wellness workshops.
  3. Health prevention and physical activity campaigns.
  4. Financial wellness education and team-building activities.
  5. More flexible work arrangements, including sabbatical leave options.

Most companies still associate workplace wellness primarily with physical activity. While this is an essential starting point, organizations must expand their approach to include all four well-being pillars: mental, physical, social, and financial health. Additionally, technology can play a crucial role in facilitating access to wellness benefits and improving communication between organizations and employees.

Conclusion: Workplace Wellness as a Key Factor in Talent Retention

Corporate wellness has shifted from being an optional perk to a fundamental aspect of business strategy. Five out of ten professionals worldwide would choose additional wellness benefits over a salary increase. This highlights that well-being not only influences employee satisfaction but also significantly impacts their decision to stay with a company.

In today’s work environment, where burnout and stress are widespread, companies must rethink their wellness strategies to ensure the long-term health of their workforce. Organizations that invest in personalized, well-structured, and effectively communicated wellness programs will stand out in the competitive labor market of the future.
